St. Louis Cemetery #1 is the oldest and most famous of the Roman Catholic cemeteries in New Orleans, Louisiana.
It is 8 blocks from the Mississippi River, on the north side of Basin Street, one block beyond the inland border of the French Quarter. It borders the Iberville housing project that was built over what was formerly Storyville. It has been in continuous use since its foundation.
Marie Laveau is buried in Saint Lous Cemetery #1, in the Glapion family crypt. New Orleans architect and planner Barthelemy Lafon and American chess champion Paul Morphy are also buried there.[1]

Some of the exhibits at the zoo include gorillas, orangutans, and the Louisiana swamp exhibit. The zoo is also home to two rare White tigers and rare white alligators.[1]

- Exposure Practice
All of the images in this album were taken using the Manual mode setting on my digital camera. In manual mode, both the shutter speed and aperture are controlled by the photographer. I shot these pictures in manual mode, because I would like to become more proficient at controlling the exposure in the pictures. The equipment used to capture these images was a Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT with an EF-50mm f/1.8 II lens.

During it’s heyday in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s, Sloss Furnaces produced “pig iron” from the Iron deposits found around Birmingham. Sloss Furnaces is often credited as turning the then village of Birmingham into the “great industrial metropolis of the New South”.
More recently, Sloss along with other industrial iron plants near Birmingham, are credited for destroying the air quality in the metropolitan Birmingham area, and causing the current ozone problems the city faces today.
